Jaiselmer is known as "The Golden City". The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Jaisalmer is a desert city and instantly invokes number of images in the mind of travellers.

The golden hued fort is a sentinel to the bleak deserts cape from its 80 metre high perch on the hill,housing the entire township within its ramparts.It has an enchanting cow-web of narrow lanes dotted with some lovely havelis,three beautifully sculptured Jain Temples of the 12th-15th century A.D. and five interconnected palaces.The fort is approached through four gateways-Akhaiyal,Ganesh Pol,Suraj Pol and Hava Pol.
The City Palace Udaipur is a heritage building, which showcases the finest elements of Rajput culture and the arts. The spectacular buildings within the City Palace Udaipur are influenced by European and Chinese architecture and are amazing in the range and aesthetic beauty of their artwork. The entrance to the Palace complex is through the 'Elephant Gate' or the 'Hathi Pol.' The Jagdish Temple where Lord Vishnu is worshipped can be seen here. The 'Great Gate' or 'Bara Pol' is the entrance to the first courtyard. There are marble arches, an elephant fighting arena and many gardens within the palace complex. The rooms within the palace are beautifully decorated and painted.
Salim Singh-ki-Haveli :
This 300 year old haveli of Jaisalmer's Prime Minister to Maharaja Rawal Gaj Singh-Salim Singh, has a beautiful blue cupola roof with superbly carved brackets in the form of peacocks.This extraordinary mansion in yellow stone is covered with intricate carvings and has an elaborate projecting balcony on the top story.The mansion is one of the most notable of the array of havelis.
Patwon -ki-Haveli :
The most elaborate and magnificent of all the Jaisalmer havelis. It has exquisitely carved pillars and extensive corridors and chambers.One of the apartments of this five storied high haveli is painted with beautiful murals.
Jain Temple
Jain Temples These groups of fine Jain temples were built in the 12th to 15th century within the Jaisalmer Fort. They are beautifully carved and dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Sambhavnathji. There is also a Shiva and a Ganesh temple within the fort. This temple built in 1156 & Constructed By Maharawal Jaisala.
Vyas Cenotaphs Jaisalmer:
This cenotaph is also known as the Sunset Point as it gives a wonderful view of picturesque Jaisalmer at sundown. Sage Vyas was the man who compiled the Hindu epic Mahabharata, the longest scripture in the world with almost 300,000 verses. He dictated the Mahabharata to Ganesh, the god with an elephant-head and son of Shiva the Destroyer.
